New Music Friday: K/DA, Dove Cameron and Jazzy Bring the Heat

It’s another big week for fresh music, and this one comes with everything from a long-awaited virtual pop comeback to a debut album that has been a long time coming. First up, K/DA are back with “FIRESTARTER”, marking the League of Legends pop group’s first original release in almost six years. The track brings together returning vocalists MIYEON and SOYEON of i-dle with Sophie Powers and Mimi Webb, and it arrives as part of the four-track FIRESTARTER EP. If you thought K/DA had quietly disappeared into the gaming universe forever, apparently they were just waiting for the right moment to set everything on fire again.

Dove Cameron is also back with “Do the Math”, the second single from her upcoming debut album Final Girl. The song lands on October 23, ahead of the full album arriving November 6, and follows “When in Rome”. Cameron has been working towards her debut album for years, having originally started developing the project back in 2018. “do the math” takes a rather pointed approach to relationship drama, using mathematics as a metaphor for figuring out who the common denominator is when things repeatedly go wrong. Spoiler alert: according to Dove, it might not be all those supposedly “crazy” exes.

And finally, Jazzy is officially entering her debut-album era with Peace & Patience. The Dublin dance star’s first full-length album arrives October 23 via Chaos Records and follows a seriously busy run of releases, including “My People”, “Invisible” with Chris Lorenzo, and the latest single “Depart”. Jazzy has already racked up more than a billion catalogue streams and multiple UK and Irish chart successes, so calling this a debut feels slightly unfair when she already has the CV of someone who has been doing this for years. The album brings together house, dance-pop and personal storytelling, with Jazzy describing it as a reflection of where she came from and the patience it took to find her sound.
