Parents across Dubai have expressed relief after authorities confirmed that private schools will not be allowed to increase tuition fees for the 2026–27 academic year. The decision, announced by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), is part of a wider Dh1.5 billion economic support package approved by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The move offers much-needed financial stability at a time when many households are still dealing with job uncertainty and rising living costs.
School operators and education groups have also backed the move, calling it a supportive measure that prioritises students and parents during a challenging period. Several schools had already decided against increasing fees despite being eligible to do so, saying affordability and community support were more important. The package also includes financial relief for schools and early childhood centres, including deferred licence fees, rent support, and exemptions from certain penalties and charges.
