Celebrities are getting into the Halloween spirit early, showing off elaborate costumes inspired by famous musicians, television characters and fellow stars. Paris Hilton is among the standouts, continuing her tradition of paying tribute to her friend Britney Spears. This year, Hilton recreated Spears’ iconic 2001 MTV Video Music Awards performance of I’m a Slave 4 U, complete with a snake. It marks the fourth consecutive Halloween that Hilton has dressed as the pop superstar.

Kim Kardashian took inspiration from closer to home, transforming herself into her daughter, North West. She recreated North’s distinctive alternative style, including a turquoise wig, long nails and gothic clothing. North, meanwhile, dressed as reality TV personality Natalie Nunn, wearing a dark bob wig and a prosthetic chin to imitate her look. Nunn returned the favour by dressing up as North, creating a playful Halloween costume exchange.

Other celebrities have embraced a mixture of spooky classics and pop-culture references. Singer Cyndi Lauper transformed into Ursula from The Little Mermaid for a performance at the New York Restoration Project’s annual Hulaween gala, while Chloe Bailey dressed as Meg Griffin from Family Guy. Actors Owen Thiele and Benito Skinner also teamed up to recreate pop stars PinkPantheress and Zara Larsson, inspired by their hit collaboration and its music video.

Meanwhile, Travis Barker and Kourtney Kardashian went for a traditional horror-inspired look, dressing as vampires, while Victoria Justice and her sister Madison Grace recreated the creepy twins from The Shining. Singer Janelle Monáe also made a dramatic impression with a gruesome, zombie-like look ahead of her annual Wondaween celebration. With Halloween falling on Saturday, 31 October, more celebrities are expected to reveal their costumes as the celebrations continue.
