Taylor Swift Takes Fans Behind the Scenes of ‘Patient Zero’

Taylor Swift is giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at the making of her “Patient Zero” music video with a new eight-minute expanded version. Released on Apple Music, the featurette takes viewers through the creative process from start to finish, including Swift directing scenes with stars Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell and discussing her vision for the cinematic video.

Swift explains that she had wanted to make a video like this for years, drawing inspiration from ghost stories, true crime and psychological thrillers. The expanded footage also highlights the work of cinematographer Emmanuel “Chivo” Lubezki, while Farrell praises Swift’s creativity and her confidence behind the camera. Fans also get a lighter look at the production, including the cast joking around between takes.

“Patient Zero” is one of four new songs featured on The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, alongside “Cleveland!”, “Pink Clouding” and “Babylon.” Swift directed the original music video, which stars Johnson and Farrell and premiered at the MTV Video Music Awards last month, where Swift also received the inaugural Artist Director Honors recognising her work in music video direction and visual storytelling.
