Ed Sheeran Reveals How he was inspired to write KATSEYE’s ‘Animal’

Ed Sheeran has revealed that he was the one who reached out to global girl group KATSEYE after becoming a fan of their breakout hit "Gnarly." The singer-songwriter said he first heard the track while travelling in Mexico last year and loved it so much that he contacted the group to see if they would be interested in writing a song together.

Sharing a behind-the-scenes video from the studio, Sheeran gave fans a rare glimpse into the creation of "Animal," showing how the song developed from an early melody into its final version. The footage captures him working on the catchy chorus before KATSEYE members Daniela, Lara and Megan recorded their vocals, with the video ending on a preview of the track's dark, cinematic music video.

"Animal" is the latest release from KATSEYE ahead of their upcoming EP WILD, due out on August 14. The collaboration marks another major milestone for the fast-rising group, while also highlighting Sheeran's continued success as a songwriter for other artists, having previously penned hits for acts including BTS and many of pop's biggest names.
