The UAE’s planned high-speed rail service is set to transform travel between Dubai and Abu Dhabi, with the journey expected to take around 30 minutes. The fully electric railway will operate separately from the existing national passenger rail network, with trains capable of reaching speeds of up to 350km/h.

In Dubai, two stations are expected to serve the high-speed route: Al Maktoum International Airport and Al Jaddaf. The line is expected to run largely parallel to Dubai Metro’s Red Line, primarily along Al Khail Road, creating faster connections between major parts of the two emirates.
The network is expected to handle up to 21 million passengers a year, with the shorter journey designed to make commuting and business travel between the two cities easier. It is also expected to support tourism, airport connectivity and economic activity, with the project estimated to contribute AED145 billion to the UAE’s GDP over the next 50 years.
