The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will feature a Formula 1 Sprint race for the first time in 2027, adding another competitive event to the season finale at Yas Marina Circuit. The Abu Dhabi weekend is scheduled for December 9–12, 2027, with the 100km Sprint taking place on Saturday and points available towards the championship.
The new format will change the usual weekend schedule. Friday will feature Sprint Qualifying instead of the second practice session, followed by the Sprint on Saturday. Qualifying for Sunday’s main Grand Prix will then take place later on Saturday, meaning fans will have two separate competitive sessions to look forward to that day.
Abu Dhabi is one of 10 venues selected to host a Sprint during the 2027 season. The addition is expected to give fans more racing action across the weekend and adds another major element to the already high-profile season finale at Yas Marina Circuit.
