The UAE have reached the ACC Men’s Premier Cup final for the third consecutive edition after a dominant semi-final victory over Hong Kong. Hong Kong were bowled out for just 70, with left-arm spinner Haider Ali producing an outstanding spell of 6-14, including three maiden overs.
Hong Kong’s openers made a reasonable start, but once Ali broke their partnership, wickets fell regularly. Only three Hong Kong batters reached double figures, while UAE wicketkeeper Adeeb Usmani also claimed two wickets. The UAE then chased down the tiny target inside 12 overs, despite losing three wickets themselves.
The undefeated UAE will now face either Nepal or Oman in the final on September 12 at Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur. A meeting with Oman would be a repeat of the 2024 final, which the UAE won by 55 runs, while a clash with Nepal would revive memories of the 2023 final, which Nepal won. The match will be streamed free on the Asia Cricket Council’s YouTube channel.
