Abu Dhabi Targets Air Taxi Launch by End of 2026

Abu Dhabi is on track to launch commercial electric air taxi services by the end of 2026 or early 2027, according to the emirate's transport chief. Officials say the project is in its final stages as Abu Dhabi aims to become one of the first cities in the world to introduce the new mode of transport. Alongside the air taxis, authorities are also developing a unified mobility app that will allow users to plan, book and pay for multiple transport options in one place.

US-based Archer Aviation is working with Abu Dhabi authorities to deploy its all-electric Midnight aircraft, with test flights already completed and supporting infrastructure currently under development. The project is part of a wider effort to modernise the emirate's transport network and offer faster, more sustainable travel options for residents and visitors.

The launch timeline follows months of testing and regulatory progress, with officials confident the UAE is well positioned to pioneer advanced urban air mobility. Abu Dhabi's busy airspace presents unique challenges, but authorities say the experience gained will help establish a safe and efficient system as flying taxis become part of the city's transport network.
