Dubai Police are significantly expanding their “noise radar” network. As discussed on the Breakfast Show with Faris and Georgina, the new smart radars can pick up on excessively loud cars, whether from modified exhausts or booming in-car music, fines of up to Dh 2,000 plus 12 black points will be issued for those who breach the noise limits.

The initiative, which is overseen by the Dubai Civility Committee, is part of a broader push to improve quality of life by curbing disruptive driving behavior. These radars don’t just detect sound, they also capture video evidence and pinpoint where the noise came from. Dubai Police say this isn’t about penalizing people arbitrarily, but about encouraging more respectful, civil road habits, while also rolling out awareness campaigns about noise pollution’s impact on public health.
