KATSEYE’s Sophia Steps Back From Group

KATSEYE member Sophia Laforteza is temporarily stepping back from the group’s promotional activities to focus on her mental health and well-being. Her label, HYBE x Geffen, said the decision follows consultations with medical professionals, who recommended that Sophia take an extended period of rest and ongoing care. Her condition is expected to be reassessed in September.

Sophia shared that the decision was difficult and that she is heartbroken to miss time with the group and their fans. However, she said prioritising her well-being is necessary so she can eventually return to performing. The group’s label said Sophia remains eager to rejoin fellow members Daniela, Lara, Megan and Yoonchae.

The announcement comes as KATSEYE prepares to release its new EP, Wild, on August 14. Sophia’s absence also means the group is currently operating with four active members, following Manon Bannerman’s own temporary hiatus earlier this year. Despite the changes, KATSEYE continues with its upcoming promotional schedule, with fans awaiting updates on when both members will return.
