Charli XCX Joins Martin Scorsese’s New Film

Charli XCX is adding another major acting credit to her growing film career, with the pop star reportedly set to make a cameo in Martin Scorsese’s upcoming movie What Happens at Night. She joins an impressive cast led by Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence, alongside Mads Mikkelsen, Patricia Clarkson and Jared Harris.

The film is based on Peter Cameron’s 2020 novel and follows an American married couple who travel to a snowy European town to adopt a baby. What begins as a journey to start their family takes a much darker turn, with the movie described as a Gothic psychological horror. Charli’s role is being kept under wraps, although it is understood to be a cameo rather than a leading part.

The casting continues Charli’s increasingly busy relationship with cinema. She has appeared in several films recently while also working on film music, including the soundtrack for Wuthering Heights. Her connection with Scorsese is particularly fitting, as the director appeared alongside John Cale and Marc Jacobs on the cover of her 2026 album Music, Fashion, Film.
