Harry Styles paid tribute to his former One Direction bandmate Liam Payne during his ongoing residency at Madison Square Garden in New York, Styles spoke about the friends and people who had helped shape his career before dedicating an unreleased song, “What Is Enough,” to Payne.

Styles told the audience that he had written the song for his friend around two years ago but had kept it private until now. He performed it as a stripped-back acoustic track during the encore, before returning to his regular set with “Sign of the Times” and “Aperture.”
The performance marked a particularly personal moment during Styles’ 30-show Madison Square Garden residency. The singer has previously spoken about how difficult it has been to lose Payne, while other former One Direction members have also remembered their bandmate publicly. It remains unclear whether “What Is Enough” will eventually receive an official studio release.
