British singer-songwriter Raye is set to make her major acting debut in the upcoming crime drama Lineage. The film will be directed by Yann Demange, best known for projects including Top Boy, and will also star Isabelle Huppert, Dali Benssalah and Adam Bessa.
The thriller is set in modern-day London and follows a former prisoner trying to rebuild his life before being pulled back into the city’s criminal underworld through family connections. Production is expected to begin in London later this year, with Demange describing the project as a personal “love letter” to the city he grew up in.
The acting role marks another major milestone for RAYE, who has recently been enjoying huge success following the release of her latest album This Music May Contain Hope. While she previously appeared as herself in the Netflix series Black Rabbit, Lineage will be her first fully scripted film performance.
