Robert Pattinson has quietly paddled his way into Marty Supreme and chances are, you didn’t even notice.

The Twilight alum made a secret cameo in Timothée Chalamet’s ping-pong comedy, lending his voice to a role that flew under the radar unless you were paying very close attention. According to director Josh Safdie, Pattinson voices the commentator and umpire during the British Open semifinals scene near the beginning of the film.

So how did Pattinson end up behind the mic? Safdie explained it was almost accidental. “He came and watched some stuff and I was like, ‘I don’t know any British people,’” he joked. “So, he’s the umpire.”

The hidden role marks Pattinson’s first collaboration with Josh Safdie since Good Time, the 2017 crime thriller co-directed by Josh and Benny Safdie. That partnership began after Pattinson, eager to work with the filmmaking duo, reached out via email and arranged a meeting.

Marty Supreme, which recently earned Timothée Chalamet a Golden Globe for Best Male Actor in a Musical or Comedy, now comes with an extra layer of intrigue thanks to Pattinson’s blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo.
