The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) has announced a temporary measure allowing expatriate residents who are currently abroad to return to the UAE even if their residency visas have expired. Under the new rule, affected residents do not need to apply for a new entry permit to re-enter the country. The move is designed to ease travel difficulties for expats who were unable to return earlier due to exceptional circumstances and disruptions.
The temporary policy gives eligible residents a window to travel back to the UAE and then regularise their residency status through the appropriate procedures once they arrive.
