A major new transport strategy has been reviewed to ease congestion across the busy Dubai–Sharjah–Ajman corridor, one of the UAE’s most heavily used commuter routes. The plan focuses on expanding public transport through a network of 10 key routes, including Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) systems with dedicated lanes and direct connections to metro stations and major city hubs. The goal is to reduce reliance on private cars while improving journey times and overall connectivity between the three emirates.

In addition, authorities are progressing with a Dh6 billion Fourth Federal Corridor highway project, which feature up to eight lanes in each direction, along with major intersections and flyovers. The wider strategy also includes studying ways to limit the growth in vehicle numbers and creating alternative routes to ease pressure on existing roads. Together, these measures aim to significantly improve traffic flow and support smoother movement of people and goods across the country.
