Officials from the Sharjah Ports and Border Points Organising Committee visited the Al Rawdah border crossing in Oman to coordinate joint efforts aimed at making trade between the UAE and the Sultanate more efficient. During the talks, both sides agreed to standardise procedures, unify operational systems and enhance coordination between police, customs, agriculture and other authorities at key crossing points like Al Madam and Al Rawdah. These upgrades are designed to facilitate customs clearance for commercial goods, including plant and animal shipments, as preparation for a new customs phase set to start soon.
The visit reflects strong bilateral ties between the UAE and Oman and follows recommendations from the UAE-Oman Joint Committee to improve cross-border services and trade exchange. Alongside discussions on streamlining operational mechanisms, the delegation also focused on boosting cooperation between various security and trade agencies, signalling both countries’ readiness to advance their economic integration and logistics coordination.
