A recent survey in the UAE shows a clear shift away from material gifts: around 74.4% of residents say they now prefer giving or receiving experiences such as concerts, staycations, or live events over traditional physical gifts. Concerts are the top choice, 63% of respondents picked concert tickets as their favourite type of festive gift, ahead of staycation vouchers, brunches, spa passes and other experiential presents.

This trend reflects changing priorities: many people say they value shared memories and emotional experiences more than items like gadgets or jewellery. As the festive season unfolds, the growing demand for live entertainment, travel deals and immersive experiences suggests businesses in hospitality, events and leisure have an opportunity to tap into a market that increasingly values connection and memorable moments over material goods.
