Pop superstar Billie Eilish is reportedly in advanced talks to make her big-screen acting debut in a new film adaptation of the classic novel The Bell Jar, which will be directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Sarah Polley. The film is based on the 1963 novel by Sylvia Plath, a semi-autobiographical story that follows a young woman named Esther Greenwood as she struggles with mental health while trying to build a career in New York. If confirmed, the project would mark Eilish’s first major acting role in a feature film.

While Eilish has previously appeared on screen in projects like the TV series Swarm, this role would represent her first leading performance in a movie. The upcoming adaptation is expected to be Polley’s first film since her critically acclaimed drama Women Talking, which earned her an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
