Abu Dhabi authorities have announced new reductions in speed limits on three key roadways across the emirate, effective from February 9, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance road safety and reduce traffic accidents. The Joint Traffic Safety Committee, working with Abu Dhabi Mobility, said the changes are intended to improve overall driving conditions and encourage safer behaviour among motorists.
Under the updated regulations, the Abu Dhabi–Al Ain Road (E22) will see its maximum limit lowered from 160 km/h to 140 km/h between Al Nahda Interchange and Bani Yas Interchange, while the stretch from Bani Yas Interchange to the Bridge Complex will be reduced from 140 km/h to 120 km/h in both directions. Additionally, Al Rawdah Road (E30) will have its limit cut from 120 km/h to 100 km/h. Authorities are urging drivers to follow the new limits and signage once they come into force to help improve safety for all road users.
