Woman with 160 stray dogs needs to raise 220k AED!
A lady in Umm Al Quwain who has been rescuing dogs for years has been told to get rid of them.
The woman, who has not been named, has brought in dogs she found in the desert, coastal and urban areas of Umm Al Quwain.
Now, after complaints from local residents, the Umm Al Quwain goverment told the woman she was violating local laws by having such a large number of dogs without licence and by sheltering them at her house in violation of the lease agreement with her landlord.
The Arabic language daily 'Al Khaleej' said officials discovered that the woman was also looking after more than 450 stray dogs through the emirate’s streets by employing four men who keep tracking the animals to feed them.
The shelter was told that due to complaints received we have one week to vacate the house which has since been extended to two weeks. They relayed that it is impossible for us to move so many dogs within this time frame. However, were given no other choice.
The shelter has said "We are therefore making a plea for support to help us relocate our shelter to a more suitable premises. The only other option is to release the dogs which is something that we hope we never have to do. We desperately need help as 140 doggies + 12 special needs doggies are depending on us..."
The shelter needs to raise $60,000 (or 220,400 AED) - if you can help, see below...
