The new fine you can get on Dubai roads...

A new fine has been announced in Downtown Dubai to protect the Dubai Trolley which is now running in Downtown Dubai.

The new tramway needs tracks to be free of passengers at all times - so standing on or crossing the tracks in an undesignated place could get you fined!

New signs up along Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard read "Keep off tramway. Violators will be fined Dh1,000".

More fines are expected to be announced and put in place to protect the Dubai Trolley.

Currently in the Marina at the Dubai Tram - motorists who drive through a red light or causing an accident leading to injuries receive fines between Dh5,000 and Dh15,000!

The trolley runs at a speed of 16 km per hour, although it has a maximum speed of 80 km per hour.
