So... Is it illegal to take selfies in the UAE now?!

A couple of weeks ago, we mentioned the legal issues you could face if you upload photos on to social media, that have people in the distance. If the people who are in the image were not asked permission first, they are able to press charges.

So what does this mean for selfie takers? Well, pretty much the same thing, if you've taking an incredible selfie that needs to uploaded to Instagram right away. You better make sure no one is in the background of your image!

Under Federal Law No 5 for 2012 on social media, a person can be jailed for up 6 months, and fined between Dh150,000 to Dh500,000 for uploading an image without given permission from others in the image!

So if you've taken a flawless, you better crop some of the randoms out of it... Unless of course you want to go to jail and pay those fines.
