New apartment building in the UK, looks strangely familiar !
The UAE is pretty well known globally for their buildings. Abu Dhabi has, what looks like, an Oreo cookie standing up on it's own. Dubai, has the world's tallest building, and the Burj Al Arab.
But surely we would be lying, if some of the buildings in the UAE weren't based on buildings in London?
The Gherkin, or it's real name, 30 St Mary Axe, was finished in 2003, construction on Damac Park Towers in DIFC didn't start until 2007, so can you see what we mean? There's similarities!
But that brings us to Plymouth's newest addition to their residential properties, it's been inspired by the Burj Al Arab, and will be at the waterfront of Plymouth's coast.
It's reportedly going to cost Dh193 million to make, with 64 luxury apartments across 56 storeys. There will also be a hotel, with 202 hotel rooms. In a statement about the building a spokesperson stated: "The building will be held up by a series of curved steel 'ribs' and its sail-like shape means it has been likened to the famous Burj Al-Arab hotel in Dubai."
Take a look at these buildings below, can you see the similarities?
