More than 41,000 traffic violations during Eid Al Fitr

During the Eid Al Fitr holiday, speed cameras and police patrol cars captured more than 41,000 offences on the roads.

Offences like speeding, reckless driving, tailgating and jumping red lights caused more than 100 deaths in the first half of 2014, this has since dropped to 77 this year.

Speeding topped the list with a whopping 1.2 million speeding fines issued last year

Not Abiding to Lane Discipline:

More than 231,000 fines were issued. The fine could cost you AED200 and 2 black points if you unnecessarily over take, undertake people and swerve around the road to get around faster.

Obstructing Traffic:

Last year 168,000 fines were issued for obstructing traffic, this is one of the most common minor offences. The fine is issued when you could be causing congestion or risk an accident, the fine is AED200

Parking in Prohibited areas:

More than 172,000 fines were issued last year to people parking in prohibited areas. The fine will cost you AED200 and 2 black points if you’re caught parking on pavements, across 2 spaces and even in the sand.

No seatbelt:

More than 52,000 people were fined in Abu Dhabi alone for not wearing a seatbelt whilst in the cars, the fine is steeper than most costing you AED400 and 4 black points on your license.
