Live updates: Fire in Dubai Marina


Images are being shared on social media of Sulafa Tower on fire in Dubai Marina, 17 months after neighbouring tower The Torch went up in flames.

5:49pm - Civil Defense are allowing residents of lower floored apartments back in 

Residents are being allowed back in to collect their things

5:19pm - Fire seems to be fully under control

5:08pm: Dubai Media Office releases official images

5:06pm - The fire seems to be under control 

4:55pm - More road closures have been announced 

All roads towards Media One Hotel have now been closed.

4:52pm - The following roads have been temporarily closed

All roads around The Torch Tower, Cafe Martinez and Princess Tower

4:49pm - Fire still blazing on the backside of the building 

4:42pm - Civil Defense have said they believe the blaze to have begun on the 35th floor

4:38pm - Falling debris has caused a 3rd fire in the centre of the building 

4:23pm - Civil Defense confirm no casualties in the fire

4:18pm - More ambulances and fire trucks arrived to the scene

4:12pm - The first emergency call was reported at 2:48pm 

4:10pm - Civil defense are still trying to contain the blaze

3:56pm - The Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi have opened their ballroom to victims affected by the fire

3:52pm - 8 fire trucks are reportedly on site

3:47pm - Dubai Civil Defence say the fire was due to a faulty generator 

3:38pm - Roads around Dubai Marina have been closed

Reports are coming in that Civil Defence are at the scene attempting to control the blaze, though are struggling due to this weeks high winds and the high floor the blaze has begun on.
