Buildings that could beat the Burj Khalifa!
The Burj Khalifa is the world's tallest building, reaching 2,716 feet. But reports have now announced that Saudi Arabia plans to beat the Burj Khalifa, building a skyscraper 3,280 feet high, to be completed by 2020.. Just in time for the Expo 2020, good timing Saudi!
But what about other people stating their going to beat the UAE... We've got the list!
Okay, so obviously we'll talk about this one first, because it seems the most likely to happen! Jeddah Tower is already built up to the 26th floor, with 170 floors left to go, it's estimated to be completed by 2020.
The Chief Executive Officer of Jeddah Economic Company, Mounib Hammoud said: “With this deal, we will reach new, as yet unheard of highs in real estate development, and will fulfil the company's objective of creating a world-class urban centre that offers an advanced lifestyle, so that Jeddah may have a new iconic landmark that attracts people from all walks of society with comprehensive services and a multitude of uses.”
A skyscraper by architectural firm, Kobi Karp planned a 975-meter structure, the Burj is 828 meters. The skyscraper was planned for Watson Island in Miami, Florida.
It was announced in 2002, that the building would go ahead, though there is still no sign of any of it. According to good old Wikipedia, the building is expected to be finished in 2017!
Dubai City Tower
What country better to beat the Burj Khalifa, than the very own country who built it! Also known as the Dubai Vertical Tower, would stand at 2,400 meters. The building was announced in August 2008, and so far there is no sign of it.
Currently there is no update on the status of this building.
Back in 1995, in Tokyo, Japan, a structure was envisioned, meaning the entire designs for the construction of the building had been completed. It was called the X-Seed 4000 and would be 4000 meters tall.
As of 2015 it is estimated building the structure could cost contractors and investors $1.06 trillion!
The Millennium Challenge Tower
This skyscraper was designed for Kuwait by Omero Marchetti, the plan was for the building to reach a mile high! Again, the Burj Khalifa is only 828 meters high, The Millennium Challenge Tower was estimated to hit 1,852 meters high.... THAT IS INSANE!
There are currently 3 groups of investors all around the world putting money into the creation!
The Bionic Tower
A tower that is planned to be exactly 400 meters taller than the Burj Khalifa, Bionic Tower plans to be a vertical city! Shanghai and Hong Kong both have interest in having the building in there city.
The current status of the building is just a vision... Awww!
Believe it or not, this tower is planned to begin construction sometime this month. The tower will hit 1,054 meters high, completion is estimated for 2019. So Jeddah Tower already has some competition... And the Burj Khalifa is going to look tiny compared to any of these!
The Sky Mile Tower
Japan have released plans to build a skyscraper that is twice the size of the Burj Khalifa, called the Sky Mile Tower. The Burj, mesuring 830m will look tiny compared to the 1,700 metre tall tower, that plans to be finished by 2045.
