Breaking the rules at a petrol pump? Expect prosecution!

If motorists don’t follow rules at petrol stations, they are at risk of prosecution!

Even if you are parked in the parking bays away from the refuelling pump, you could still be at risk of prosecution if any rules are broken.

Enoc advises customers to switch their vehicles off, leave the bonnet (Hood, for the Americans) shut, and refrain from using your mobile phone.

One of the most dangerous things to do while at petrol stations is smoking cigarettes in close proximity to the petrol pumps.

People caught smoking will now risk prosecution for negligence, endangering public safety and not following the warnings that are posted all over the station.

It is also urged that bystanders report incidents to the petrol pump attendant it they find someone not behaving in a suitable manner.
