Between September 15th and October 18th fines were issued to 6,000 people for not wearing seatbelts.
Abu Dhabi Police stated that this was the largest number of seatbelt violations to be recorded in 1 month.
Out of the 6,000 people violating the law, all were fined Dh400 and clocked up 4 black points to their license.
“Six thousand people were caught violating the seatbelt law despite police warnings.” Said Lt Col Mohammed Salem Al Shehhi, the head of the traffic control department in Dubai Dhabi Traffic and Patrols Directorate.
