A small earthquake was reported in Fujairah today!
The North of Dibba in Fujairah reported an earthquake hitting 2.6 on the Richter scale, this morning, it was estimated that the earthquake began at 7.23am.
The earthquake was felt in Fujairah and in Musandam, Oman. A spokesperson for the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology spoke to The National saying: "Its a minor earthquake and is part of normal activity in the region."
Such small earthquakes are common, he added, saying there was another one in Masafi in May, 3 months ago.
Earthquakes that hit 2.5 to 4 on the Richter scale are classed as small earthquakes, Police in Fujairah informed The National, that usually people phone them to say they felt the earthquake, in the occurrence no one had phoned. Which could mean no one felt the earthquake!
