DEWA's charging stations are well under way!
DEWA is well on their way to complete 100 electric charging stations by the end of 2015.
In an attempt to reduce Dubai’s carbon footprint, DEWA are expanding from 16 stations at their DEWA centres, which charge 24 cars at one time, to 100 charging stations around the UAE.
The plan is to have charging stations on main highways, malls, at airports, parks and popular destinations like JBR, and Downtown Dubai.
The charging stations will be solar powered, perfect for the sunny weather in the UAE and will release zero gasses into the environment.
The Green Charger Initiative is part of Dubai’s Smart City initiative to make Dubai a more sustainable place to live.
A new charging station has been installed in Silicon Oasis with another station to be installed soon. Other locations include Al Wasl, Al Hudaiba, Burj Nahar, Umm Ramool and Jebal Ali, all available for using now.
So if you have a hybrid car, get charging instead of filling!
